Jonah and the fish?

The past 3 weeks my church, The Well, has dug into the story of Jonah.
All throughout sunday school and youth group etc. Ive heard this story again and again but it wasn't until now I realize this story isn't about punishment, it was God saving Jonah from Jonah and giving him a second chance. Schoools Harrrd

Ever poured your heart and soul into something and receive nothing but a big fat FAIL?
Week and a half ago, I took a synoptic meteorology exam and failed it. 57%. F. Fail.

I lost it, completely. I could not stop crying, it's sort of embarrassing how upset I got. To try to cheer myself up, and bring me back to Earth, I looked Postsecret's Sunday Secrets and found this...

Garnet & Gold

Typical Saturday morning and the only thing that's guaranteed for me is college football. I'm half way through my FIFTH year of college and as frustrated as I am with still being a student and still having no income, I'm starting to see the little things that are coming from this extra year in Tallahassee. Florida State Football is one of them.

Growing up, no one in my immediate family was ever a big college football fan. The only game I faintly remember is the Florida v. Florida State game that falls after every Thanksgiving and living an hour from Gainesville it's was always topic of conversation. It isn't until now, my last and final fall in Tallahassee, that I'm realizing how much I really love my 'Noles. It really is something else when you think about the pride you have for your college team. A heartbreak can make me cry, and a bad loss can make me boil with anger, but it never fails that next Saturday I'll be coming back for more. As cheesey as those side-of-the-car-magnet's can be...I really do bleed Garnet & Gold.

Tonight we play at University of Maryland and next Saturday we play University of Florida in Tallahassee, which will be my last home game legally sitting in the student section. Every year I say, "As long as we beat Florida as my last game as a student..." It's about that time and I can't wait!

Alumni Workshop

Every parent's weekend, the Meteorology department has an alumni workshop. Alumni that went into broadcasting come in from all over the country and critique the current student's weather cast. This year's alumni included:

Basically, I was a kid in a candy store! I've grown up watching George Winterling on channel 4 so meeting / seeing him for the second time was such an honor. Pictures were taken but I'll post those another time.

So blessed that even crazy dreams true! :)

I hate driving.

:: FAIL #1
The last day of August, I was pulling in to do my 1st day of producing the FSU Weather Show. I had already been at the studio setting up graphics and prepping the show. My "tv" clothes were in my car across campus so I walked then planned on driving back to the studio. Pulling into the parking lot, someone decided to do a 3-point turn right in front of me and back into me. Awesome. While my car was in the shop, I obviously had to rent a vehicle. I got the privilege to driving this obnoxious red Chevrolet HHR. Before you rent a vehicle, one must inspect the car for any previous scratches. This particular automobile had two very obvious scratches on the front with red paint. This is where I went wrong. I assumed that since they were painted over, they had already been repaired. However, that wasn't the case. When I returned it, I was charged for the repairs to fix the scratches. What bummed me out the most, is that the scratch and the paint was very obvious. When I inspected the car before I even rented it, the enterprise man [Carl] knew very well the scratches were there. I was just the naive college girl he took advantage of.
Bottom line: Never assume.
Total cost: $454.17

:: FAIL #2
Two weeks later, I was late to class so I figured I would just risk it, and park in a corner in the nearest parking garage. Although I've parked in this very same space before and only got a $20 parking ticket, this time it was declared PARKING IN A FIRE LANE.
Bottom line: Arrive on time.
Total cost: $100.00

:: FAIL #3
It was last Friday night and out in Jacksonville Beach. Parked in the Bank of America lot across from Brix. Didn't want to drink and drive so I left my car there overnight only to return in the morning with the White Knight no where to be found!
Bottom line: Take better note of TOW AWAY ZONE.
Total cost: $186.00

I really hope that trouble only comes in 3's.

Pit Stop

With my busy and hectic life, just wanted to update you on why I'm a horrible blogger:

I never made one summer post.

But on the the upside:

SEVERE WEATHER

Most college students won't ever ever ever ever wake up in the single digits.

At 7am on this cloudy saturday morning, much to my surprise, I heard lightning. I wasn't expecting/forecasting any storms until at least this evening. I wouldn't have been surprised to see a light shower or 2 before noon, but lightning? Initially we're expected to have some fantastic thunderstorms..tomorrow. However, it looks like this monstrosity of a low pressure system has sped up and will be swooping by the big-bend region late tonight.

Below is basically the chances these areas have for severe weather.


Boy what I would give to be in Louisiana or Alabama right now, instead of the meteorology building on campus: fooey.

The little things

Today I got the pleasure of babysitting for the Cahill's: Gabrielle, Zachary, and Jordan. Most days I pick them up from school and either take them to Karate or Irish dance, etc. If you don't hang out with 10-7 year olds often, you should. Getting caught up in the everyday struggles from class, finances, to keeping up with stuff around the house, spending time with them is just simply down to Earth.

Graduation - SIKE!

Although it's been a while, I have not forgot about my dear blog.

The past 3 years I watch the seniors say goodbye's and get excited for their next chapter in life. However, this year is different because I should be THAT senior. Instead, I'm still making summer plans, working on next Fall's schedule, etc. etc.

Blahhhh

Most of my friends who have already graduated tell me to enjoy it and be grateful. Even though I am sure God has a plan for me in this last year in Tallahassee, it doesn't change the fact that I just am very anxious to be a weather lady.

I'm blogging in order to mock my words once I am finally a weather girl. Hopefully.

She's a beaut!

Today was a day that describes my "name of blog" perfectly. Sunny with a high of 75 is what I would proclaim to be ideal weather, for anything. Windows down, wearing shorts with maybe a light jacket.

Weather that you just need to be outside in.

Today's high was 73 with clear skies. I rest my case. With finally catching up on sleep from my past week of tests and events, I felt like a new person waking up this morning. Lets see what tomorrow's high of 76 brings...

I really think coming to the end of my 1st senior year, I have mastered procrastination at it's finest. I've decided to create a blog for fun, and see how often I can keep up. Bear with me, this should be interesting.
